Yeah I have this problem too. I actually posted a thread about this as well. For me at least, it works in only about 2 or 3 of the chatrooms. All of the others, I can't see myself or type anything. If you can see your name in the right side, that means you can chat and people will see you.
I think it could have something to do with peep's firewalls / routers. I just set up a rule for port 1935 on the router/modem (used for Flash chat rooms etc) and i can get into the other rooms now. Not sure why it would work for different rooms tho.... just an idea anyhow. :-)
