Surgical scarring - a turn off/unattractive?

Surgical scarring - a turn off/unattractive?

Hi Babble,

I have the following scar from heart surgery, known as a keloid. It is very difficult to treat, although I can reduce the redness somewhat using cosmetic camouflage makeup. Getting rid of it is not an option though:

Please be honest, ladies - would you consider such a scar unattractive or a turn off? Does it reduce my "market value" and make me much less physically attractive and less hot overall? Would anyone consider this a big deal?

I totally agree with Sunday_ morning.....
If people cant see past whats on the outside then their not even worth you allowing the chance to get to know whats on the inside...
Im considering a breast reduction but one of the main things thats stopping me is the scars but in all honestly my attitude should really be if i can handle them then anyone else that cant is just not worth it...

Well i can't speak from a female point of view but anyone who did judge you for having the scar wouldn't be worth giving the time of day to.

It's part of who you are and something you can't change. Anyone who can't accept that ain't worth it.

What dems said. Bio oil works a treat. My bf has tonnes of scars from a motorbike accident on his face and upper body, had a lot of surgery, he hated them so I got him some, and they have faded really well! Vitamin E cream works also.

But to answer your question, scars don't bother me either

Hi, I've already tried buckets of Bio Oil. I'm one of their best customers, lol. I recently had around 30 dermatologists and plastic surgeons examine the scar and consider treatment options, it's one of the most difficult to treat. It's likely to get bigger though without more treatment.

I had a few people say this would make me less attractive to the opposite sex. It looks almost radioactive so I'm looking at some kind of makeup to reduce the redness, but it won't ever be possible to get rid of it.

Scars just tell a story about your life, if people dont like them, they are not worth knowing you.

What would happen in the situation when a man with such scarring is lacking in confidence with his body? Would you overlook such lack of confidence as an understandable side-effect of such a disfigurement?

Or would you just think "Eww, turn off!" and stick him in the friend zone, holding him to the same standards in terms of confidence as someone without such scarring? Since I heard lack of confidence can be a very big turn-off to many women.

Lack of confidence is kind of a turn off, but its kind of understandable as long as you are confident about other things. As long as you aren't obsessively asking about it all the time, it's totally fine.

And I have to say, the scar...no biggie. My bf has one from heart surgery when he was a kid and I think it's kind of hot. If it bothers you that much, they might be able to fade the red with lasers, though I say leave it.
