- Has anyone else ever wondered if babblelandia isn’t just a big social experiment run by mice?
(apologies to D Adams)
Has anyone ever really met this Babble?

- No, but I've heard that if you stick one in your ear you can instantly understand anything spoken to you in any form of language. Oh wait, that's BabbleFISH! And remember the answer to the Ultimate Question is 42 (will keep you posted if and when we ever figure out what the Ultimate Question is).

- What is a very simple enquiry got complicated too quickly... DW is just pointing to other references by author Douglas Admas, creator of Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (clever spoof sci-fi first made popular on bbc radio) and possibly inspiration to the creators of this great Babblelandia.
A bablefish (one b, ref. tower of babel) is, indeed, is described by adams as a naturally occuring translating device- a type of fish stuck in the ear that renders the listener the ability to understand any recognized language. In his books, the plant earth was a huge experiment, run by mice, designed to find the question to the answer of life, the universe and everything (the answer had already been found to be 42, butthat begged the question).
Far from being drug induced, I was seriously musing the moving force behind our facilitators at babblelandia. Not only is the site possibly named in a wry hommage to Adams, but the evident ease of study of the self-captive subjects (ie ourselves) by mice or other sentinent beings really does make you think.
Hope that just about cleared everything up and has allowed you to make a reasoned asessment of what may indeed question our very (albeit virtual) existence.

- Should we let her in on it, Leon? Sure, why not. We were just paraphrasing some choice passages from Douglas Adam's hilarious "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," which was first a BBC Radio series, then a very short-lived BBC television series, then a highly successful series of comedic sci-fi novels, then a so-so Hollywood movie. I would highly recommend the books to anyone who appreciates dry British satire and social commentary. End of plug (the estate of the late Douglas Adams is now cutting off by kick-backs).
Just remember, always know where your towel is (and again, if you're unfamiliar with the series, that will mean absolutely nothing to you either!). Hmmm, maybe we should start a HHG Clique... Nah!

Who is babble? What is he, she or it after?

- Okay, okay, you got me. I...am...Babble. The truth is finally out. Thank God, that's such a burden lifted off my shoulders. I feel like I've been living a lie. Holding in all the shame and guilt over having created this naughty site in the first place. But now that the truth is out there, I feel liberated and oddly invigorated. I can now stand up and proudly proclaim that yes, I am Babble, hear me roar!!
Or am I?...

- omfg..u know..i've read a lot of Douglas Adams and when i came onto Babble that's exactly what I was thinking..maybe they've created babble to find the Question...they could be going through all our pick up lines right now..Unfortunately i think all they'd come with is Do u wan to fuck/play with my cock..or Would u like to watch me on cam(from a cam girl):P..
and 42 doesn't really make sense to any of those...maybe they'll realize its futiile and the world will come to an end..or the dolphins will take over...i'll just hold on to my towel for now..and try to not panic...

- Some possible Answers to the Ultimate Question which is 42:
1. How many times will a particular camgirl copy and paste the same stupid message in the chats before she realizes she's wasting her time and goes away?
2. How long will a female have to wait once she enters a chatroom before she receives a dozen PM's from horny men (in seconds)?
3. How many forums can Dreamwalker post to per hour?

Babble is a person then. And a man... a british knight of the realm? Curious...
(The hermaphrodites and sheep shagging are par for the course for knighted brits.)
(If there are any other knights (and by extension, their lawyers) listening, this is a light hearted throwaway coment intended only for amusement.)

- Good possibilities, Smithpatrick. However, there seems to be a localized temporal flux originating in your area resulting in a distortion of time. Hence your numbering of the plausable answers went 4 and 5 and then again 4, 5, and 6. Hopefully this problem is a purely temporary one and will correct itself in time (pun NOT intended).

- Hey, lookie here. I think I’m getting somewhere. I think I may have found Babble’s secret lair. Look, what is the only uninhabited place in the world that babble has put in the country list? The answer is the Heard and McDonald Isles (well known to all of our antipodean bretheren). Surely this is some sort of clue babble wanted to leave us; after all, you don’t put an uninhabited island in a list of countries for computer users. That’s stupid; I bet they don’t even get broad-band there.
Not convinced? -now look deeper. Key in the name of these islands to any search engine and try to find a map. Now, what’s the name of the small, even more uninhabited island off to the north east? Got it? See. Exactly, now that can only mean three things in english... one is a type of sea bird like a comorant, another describes the length of pile in a carpet, and the third –and I know which one it obvioulsy is, given the context- is the amusing expression popularised by Austin Powers for sexual union. SHAG Island. How on earth would they call an uninhabited island Shag Island if nobody lived there and there and hence there was no-one to shag? Daft, isn’t it?... Or sinister?
What better place for our mysterious manipulator to have a secret den, and only one and a half thousand miles from Perth, too.
